Shame & Gold: Cary Comes Clean

By Curtis | May 18, 2008

Remember how Cary pretty much didn’t answer the questions about Shame & Gold last episode?  He called me up a few days later and said something along the lines of, “ok, now I have some answers for your questions; I’m comin clean…”

So, here you have it, the whole story.  At least as of today.

As a bonus, you get a sneak peak at a live version of Shame & Gold performed just a couple of weeks ago at the Velour Live Music Gallery.

Be sure to leave feedback for us and subscribe to the podcast over at iTunes.

Shame and Gold

By Curtis | May 14, 2008

I caught up last week with Cary at The Velour Live Music Gallery, a brilliant little venue in Utah that is worth your time.  Based on a suggestion from one of our listeners, we talked about Shame and Gold from Looking Back from Space as well as the drama that surrounds set lists and whether online concerts are a good idea.

If you like what you hear, please leave us some feedback over at the iTunes podcast page.  If you don’t like what you hear or have a request for a future show, please hit me with an email at “curtis at caryjudd.com.”

Evolution of a Song

By Curtis | March 26, 2008

Remember back in episode 2 when Cary explained how he writes his songs? Now you get to hear him write one from the very beginning. Maybe. Since the songs evolve we have no idea where these will end up but it’ll be a nice experiment to see whether these little riffs turn into anything on the upcoming album.Drums by Ryan, the man that put down the drum tracks for Coma on Looking Back From Space. He’s an incredible drummer but judge for yourself by checking out this episode, “Evolution of a Song.”

Perfect Tonight

By Curtis | February 3, 2008

In this episode, Cary talks about recent happenings, including a hit-and-run car crash with a red minivan. We also talk for a few minutes about the history of Perfect Tonight on his 2006 release Looking Back From Space. We wrap up with the original acoustic arangement, a sort of slow, mellow tune with a thought-provoking feel. Check it out.

ps–talk of drugs refers to legally prescribed medications taken under the supervision of a Medical Doctor, just so that nobody gets the wrong idea. :)

Episode 2: Cracker Barrel, Rhyming, and Songwriting

By Curtis | November 18, 2007

In this tasty episode at the Cracker Barrel outside of Allentown Pennsylvania, Cary walks us through one of his rhyming exercises and then talks a bit about how he writes his songs. If microphones could pick up food, you would also get a good taste of breakfast on the road.
